INEC Begins Trainer Workshop Ahead of April 13 Voter Revalidation Exercise for 2027 Elections
ABUJA, Nigeria — The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has commenced a nationwide Training-of-Trainers (ToT) workshop as part of preparations for the upcoming 2026 voter revalidation exercise, a key step toward ensuring credible 2027 general elections.
The high-level training is currently taking place at The Electoral Institute (TEI), INEC’s research and training arm, where selected master trainers are being equipped with the technical and operational knowledge required for nationwide implementation.
Strengthening Nigeria’s Electoral Process
Speaking during the workshop held on March 30, 2026, Professor Kunle Ajayi, Chairman of TEI’s Board, emphasized that a credible voter register remains the foundation of free, fair, and transparent elections.
According to him, INEC is prioritizing data accuracy, system integrity, and inclusive participation as part of its broader electoral reforms ahead of 2027.
Nationwide Training Rollout
The program targets key personnel from INEC’s Voter Registry and ICT departments, who will in turn train thousands of field officials across the country.

176,846 Polling Units (PUs) nationwide
This cascading training model ensures that all registration officers are properly equipped before deployment.
