FG Begins Direct Payments to Over 42,000 TVET Students, 600 Training Centres Nationwide
The Federal Government has commenced the first tranche of direct financial payments under its Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Initiative, reaching more than 42,000 students and over 600 independent training centres across the country.
Each of the 42,000 beneficiaries has received a monthly stipend of N22,500 to cover upkeep and transportation costs, enabling them to concentrate fully on their skills acquisition programmes.
Simultaneously, more than 600 private and independent technical and vocational centres have been paid for delivering instruction and hands-on training, ensuring programme quality and continuity.
The payments mark the beginning of a sustained funding cycle, with subsequent tranches to follow as part of the government’s long-term commitment to the initiative.
The Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, described the swift rollout as direct implementation of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s directive.
