TVET Initiative 2026: Federal Ministry of Education Explains Why Some Applicants Were Not Matched, Reopens Portal April 8

The Federal Ministry of Education has issued an important update to applicants of the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Initiative, explaining why some candidates were not matched to training centres in the current application cycle.

In an official communication released by the TVET Initiative Team, the Ministry expressed appreciation to all applicants who showed interest in the programme. However, it noted that due to limited training slots and the availability of accredited centres, not all applicants could be successfully matched.

According to the statement, placement into training centres depends largely on the availability of accredited institutions within an applicant’s selected local government area. In cases where there are no centres offering a candidate’s chosen trade in their location, matching may be delayed until more centres are approved or additional slots become available.

The Ministry acknowledged the disappointment this may cause but reassured applicants that their eligibility remains intact. Unsuccessful candidates are encouraged to apply again in the next cycle.

The TVET application portal is scheduled to reopen on April 8, 2026, via the official website: https://www.tvet.education.gov.ng

In the upcoming application round, candidates will have the opportunity to select their preferred training centres directly during registration. This new feature is expected to improve placement chances, as selection will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis.

Applicants are strongly advised to apply early once the portal opens to increase their chances of securing a training slot.

The TVET Initiative remains a key programme of the Federal Ministry of Education aimed at equipping Nigerians with practical skills for employment and entrepreneurship.
