African Union Youth Volunteer Corps 2026/2027: Application Now Open for Young Africans
The African Union has officially opened applications for the 2026/2027 African Union Youth Volunteer Corps (AU-YVC), a prestigious continental initiative aimed at empowering young Africans through professional volunteer service.
Launched in 2010, the AU-YVC programme recruits, trains, and deploys young professionals from all 55 African Union member states for a 12-month assignment across different countries in Africa. The initiative supports youth engagement in development efforts aligned with Agenda 2063, also known as “The Africa We Want.”

Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for the programme, applicants must:
- Be citizens of an African Union member state (living in Africa or the diaspora)
- Be between 18 and 35 years old
- Hold at least a post-secondary qualification (ND, HND, Bachelor’s, or Master’s degree)
- Have at least one year of volunteering experience
- Have at least one year of professional work experience
- Be available for a full 12-month commitment
- Be willing to live and work in another African country
- Be proficient in at least one AU working language
