The United States Mission to Nigeria is hiring for the position of Supervisory Visa Assistant and Fraud Prevention Assistant at the U.S. Consulate General in Lagos, under the announcement number Lagos 2026 006S. This is a full-time, supervisory role located in Lagos, Nigeria, within the Nonimmigrant Visa Unit, the largest of its kind in Africa.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead a team of 13 locally employed staff members.
- Oversee the processing of over 300,000 nonimmigrant visa applications annually, including for tourist, student, and work-related visas.
- Manage key operations like scheduling, prescreening, intake data entry, visa printing, and fraud screening.
- Supervise 2-3 team leads and indirectly manage other visa assistants.
- Support staff development through evaluations, training, and onboarding.
- Ensure a diverse, inclusive work environment while advising on operational improvements.
Qualifications:
Option 1: University degree (Business Admin, Communications, Public Admin, Sociology, Law, etc.) + 3 years of relevant experience, including 1 year in a supervisory role.
Option 2: 5 years of relevant experience + 2 years of university education.
- NYSC certification is required where applicable.
- Strong organizational, communication, and decision-making skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to work under pressure.
