Oxfam Opens Project Officer Vacancy in Borno State – Apply Before May 16, 2026
Oxfam has announced a new opportunity for qualified and experienced professionals to join its Nigeria team as a Project Officer. The role forms part of the organization’s continued efforts to tackle poverty, inequality, and social injustice through humanitarian and development interventions.
The position is based in Biu under a six-month fixed-term contract with a full-time schedule of 40 hours weekly. The successful candidate will report directly to the Project Coordinator and receive an annual gross salary of ₦8,016,695 at Grade Level D1.

Role Overview
The Project Officer will support the implementation of a community-focused initiative aimed at strengthening social cohesion, inclusive governance, and resilience across selected LGAs in Adamawa State and Borno State.
Key responsibilities include:
- Coordinating project implementation at the LGA level
- Supporting community development planning processes
- Strengthening governance structures such as LGDCCs, WDCCs, and WDSCs
- Facilitating stakeholder engagement and capacity-building activities
- Promoting citizen participation, transparency, and accountability
- Collaborating with local authorities and implementing partners
- Integrating gender equality, safeguarding, inclusion, and conflict sensitivity into project activities
- Supporting monitoring, evaluation, accountability, and learning (MEAL) activities including data collection and reporting
Requirements
Interested applicants must possess:
- A bachelor’s degree in social sciences or a related discipline
- Minimum of four years’ experience in community development, governance, or social cohesion projects
- Strong communication, facilitation, stakeholder engagement, and project management skills
- Knowledge of the local context and languages in Adamawa and Borno States will be an added advantage
