CIVICUS Opens Applications for Paid Remote Research Internship 2026
CIVICUS has announced applications for its 2026 Remote Research Internship, offering young professionals and recent graduates an opportunity to gain international experience in civil society research and advocacy.
The internship is a 12-month remote, part-time role with a monthly stipend of USD 600. Successful applicants will join the Research cluster at CIVICUS and work closely with the Head of Research and Analysis on major publications, including the CIVICUS Lens platform and the State of Civil Society Report.
The organization is seeking candidates who are passionate about civic space, citizen action, global development, and social impact research. Interns will support ongoing research projects through desk research, literature reviews, data gathering, interview coordination, transcription, and report writing.
Selected candidates will also contribute to editing publications, supporting dissemination activities, and creating social media content related to research findings and opinion pieces. Applicants with creative digital skills, including experience with Canva or data visualization tools, may have an added advantage.
To qualify, candidates should possess a degree in social sciences or a related field, or be close to completing one. Strong English writing and communication skills are required, while knowledge of French or Spanish is considered an advantage.
CIVICUS noted that applicants should be able to work independently, meet deadlines, and collaborate effectively within a multicultural virtual environment. Experience in qualitative research and familiarity with civil society issues will strengthen applications.
The application deadline is May 18, 2026, at 11:59 PM SAST. Interested applicants are encouraged to complete the application form carefully and avoid using autofill features to prevent submission errors.
