The Atlantic Technical University (UTA), in collaboration with the West African Science Service Centre on Climate Change and Adapted Land Use (WASCAL), is inviting applications for the sixth cohort of the Master’s Research Programme on Climate Change and Marine Sciences (MRP-CCMS).

This programme is designed to train highly skilled graduates in the field of climate change and marine sciences. In addition, it equips them with the knowledge and research capacity needed to address pressing environmental and coastal challenges in West Africa. It provides a strong academic foundation combined with practical research experience. As a result, the programme prepares participants for impactful careers in academia, policy development, and environmental management.Logistics career guide

 

The Master’s Research Programme focuses on key areas such as climate systems, oceanography, coastal ecosystems, climate adaptation strategies, and sustainable marine resource management. Participants will benefit from interdisciplinary learning and access to modern research facilities. Moreover, they will collaborate with leading scientists and institutions across the region.

WASCAL is a West African international organization committed to advancing academic and transdisciplinary research while building graduate-level expertise in climate science. The organization also provides science-based policy advice to support climate change adaptation and land use management. It is funded by the German Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space. Additionally, WASCAL is supported by 12 member countries, including Benin, Burkina Faso, Cabo Verde, Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana, Guinea, Mali, Niger, Nigeria, Senegal, The Gambia, and Togo. Through its partnerships with regional universities and agencies, WASCAL continues to establish a strong platform for scientific excellence and innovation.

The programme is open to qualified candidates from across West Africa who are interested in contributing to sustainable environmental solutions and advancing research in climate and marine sciences.
