The Nigeria Education Loan Fund, which is the Nigeria Education Loan Fund has gotten a lot of applications from students all over the country. Since it started on May 24 2024 it has gotten 1,696,316 applications. The Nigeria Education Loan Fund stopped taking applications for the 2025/2026 session.
The Nigeria Education Loan Fund said this in its report on its official X account. It said that 983,706 students have gotten help far from the Nigeria Education Loan Fund. More and more students kept applying until the day. There was an increase of 0.8 per cent from the day before which means 12,776 more students applied.
The Nigeria Education Loan Fund also said that it has paid a lot of money to schools. It paid N107,086,869,491 directly to 265 schools for fees. It also gave N76,798,940,000 to students for their needs.
In total the Nigeria Education Loan Fund has given out N183,885,809,491 since the program started. This was as of February 1 2026.
The Nigeria Education Loan Fund told students about the deadline on its X account on February 25. It said that the student portal would close on February 27. The Nigeria Education Loan Fund asked students to apply before the deadline.
It said “The Nigeria Education Loan Fund student portal will close on 27 February 2026. Please apply before it closes. Schools that have not started the 2025 session should ask for more time and they should send their school calendar for the Nigeria Education Loan Fund to consider.”
In January the Nigeria Education Loan Fund gave students time to apply. It moved the deadline from January 31 to February 27. This gave students time to finish their applications, for the 2025/2026 academic session.
