MTN Foundation Scholarship Programme 2026 Opens for Applications

The MTN Foundation has officially announced the 2026 edition of its annual Scholarship Programme for students in Nigerian public tertiary institutions. The scholarship initiative, launched in 2010, is designed to reward academic excellence and provide financial support to outstanding students across universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education in Nigeria.

For the 2026 cycle, a total of 400 students will receive scholarships valued at ₦300,000 annually. Beneficiaries will continue to receive the award every year until graduation, provided they maintain the required academic performance and participate in approved upskilling programmes.

The scholarship programme is divided into three categories:

MTN Foundation Science and Technology Scholarship (MTNF STS)

This category is open to students studying science and technology-related courses in public tertiary institutions across Nigeria.
Eligible applicants must:

  • Be in 300 level or transitioning from 200 level
  • Attend a public university, polytechnic, or college of education
  • Have a minimum CGPA of 3.0/4 or 3.5/5 for universities and colleges
  • Polytechnic students must possess an Upper Credit at OND level
  • Medical students in 400 level are also eligible to apply.

 

MTN Foundation Scholarship for Blind Students (MTNF SBS)

The scholarship for blind students supports visually impaired undergraduates in Nigerian public tertiary institutions regardless of their course of study.

Applicants must:

  • Be in 200 or 300 level
  • Have a minimum CGPA of 2.5 in universities and colleges
  • Polytechnic students must have at least 2.0 CGPA or OND Upper Credit
  • Law students in 5-year programmes are eligible only in 300 level

 

MTN Top 10 UTME Scholarship

This category automatically rewards the top 10 highest-scoring candidates in the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). Eligible candidates are selected based on their examination performance.

 

According to the foundation, the programme is aimed at promoting academic excellence, inclusivity, and capacity development among Nigerian students while supporting future leaders in different sectors.
